Conferencia Internacional de E-Learning Integral 2.0 (Guatemala, 13th February 2008) - OpenACS and dotLRN Conference (Guatemala, 12th-16th February 2008)

Both events are organized by the Galileo University of Guatemala. More information at:

Emmanuelle Raffenne will give the following presentation: "ALPE: a market validation approach of accessible eLearning services". Moreover, there will be an additional presentation where ALPE will have an important presence, including references and a specific section focused on ALPE: "Usability in e-learning platforms". There will be a stand for presenting ALPE and its services. It will include a demo of the ALPE plaform, access to ALPE courses and a leaflet with ALPE services will be given.

ALPE Workshop in Spain (Madrid, 28th September 2007)

The first National workshop has been organised by UNED within the X Anniversary of the SIDAR Foundation.
UNED took adventage of this event, with an attendance of relevant stakeholders in the Spanish elearning domain. Public Administration, ICT accesibility standardisation experts, private companies and consultants.
The presentations by Jesús González Boticario (UNED) and Eva Vázquez de Prada (INDRA) led to a discussion about the expectations and the facts in elarning market, the role of distance universities in the education of students with disabilities, and the importance of addressing accessibility in elearning public procurement processes.
Furthermore, an ALPE questionnaire by INDRA was responded by some of the attendees.

Second ALPE Consortium Meeting (Athens, 25th and 26th September 2007)

Meeting held between INDRA, UNED, UKOU and PAB.

The second plenary meeting of the ALPE Consortium was held the 25th and 26th of September 2007 in Athens. The meeting was hosted by PAB. The objective of this meeting was to follow up the launching of the fast trial pilots in Spain, the UK and Greece and to introduce Metisnet as new project member.

ALPE Consortium Meeting (Madrid, 5th February 2007)

Meeting held between INDRA, UNED, UKOU and PAB.

The first plenary meeting of the ALPE Consortium was held the 5th of February 2007 in Madrid. The meeting was hosted by UNED. The main issue discussed was the customisation of the ALPE service to suit the needs of disabled and adult learners in the three member countries: Spain, the United Kingdom and Greece. The procedure to ensure the accessibility of the courses to ensure user acceptance was explored. In order to have the service ready for the market validation trials the Consortium agreed to perform in-house evaluations with accessibility experts and with a sample of target users.

European Year of Equal Opportunities for All (January 2007 spotlight)

The European Year of Equal Opportunities for All in 2007 will seek to make people in the EU more aware of their rights to enjoy equal treatment and a life free of discrimination.

Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP)

The new Life Long Learning Programme runs for the period 2007-2013 and is the successor to the current Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci and eLearning programmes. Three info days will be held in Brussels in January and February.
